Our team decided to go on with the Employment or HR industry. Actually, this is not really an industry, but it is a very important part of the industry and economy on the whole. We focused on this problem because that is the problem we’re as students faced with often. Today, our analysis won’t be something new if you read our previous post, but we will expand our analysis more widely.

As we’ve said before the average percentage of unemployment is quite high in our country. Based on the information from nonews.co our country is on the 79th place over the world in 2019.

Now the situation is even worse - 5%.

As you can see from the graph provided by take-profit.org the youth unemployment rate in Kazakhstan rose to 3.8% in the third quarter of 2019. The maximum rate was 19.4% and the minimum was 3.6%. Overall the percentage of unemployment among young people is quite stable for recent years, but anyway, we have to somehow decrease it.

So, I asked myself “Why don’t young people want to work?”, “What’s the reason for all of this?”, “What should we do to solve this problem?”, etc.
Why don’t young people want to work?
What’s the reason for all of this?
Okay, that’s a bit of an incorrect question, but anyway, we should know what stands behind it. From the research provided by informburo.kz I picked some of the top reasons why young people do not work after graduation. Part of the reason may be the lack of awareness of young people about the profession they want to get. Another reason is that young people choose those professions in which their acquaintances or relatives are already working. In this case, the influence is exerted by a clear example of success, a model of behavior appears, which teenagers are guided by. Some of the applicants admitted that when choosing a specialty, they take into account the possibility of receiving a state grant. For them, the main thing is to have a diploma. This category of tomorrow's students is also guided by the financial capabilities of the family (in case of failure to receive a grant). So, as we can see young people cannot see the situation overall, because they do not have enough experience or they're forced by the situations.
Another problem is that employers have questions about young people’s ability to work too! There are questions like: how prepared the graduates are; how well their skills correspond to reality; do they know how to work with modern equipment;
Also Atameken published the results of the study of educational programs. It turned out that about 35% of graduates do not work in their specialty, and another 40% were unable to find a job within a year after graduation.
Thus, we can conclude that students need time to think about what they want to do and to decide it, they should try the work. It’d also solve the problem of employers that their interns don’t have enough experience.
What do we offer?
We have several solutions for both educational institutions and students. First of all, let’s talk about the main problem - students cannot find a good job/internship/practice after/during their education. Thus, they are not able to be sure if they want to work in this specific specialty or not and they cannot gain a working experience. Therefore we offer you a platform called “Mentorship”. The main goal of this startup is to provide initial working experience for future specialists.
Mentorship is a cross platform app which can help inexperienced students to find a job. It is very difficult for students to find an outsourced order, and it is always important to get experience for those who want to work when they graduate from university. For example, in the field of IT, a senior or middle developer, who is engaged in freelancing alongside his main job, may have difficulty with completing the order. So, he could share the amount of routine work with a junior developer by being his mentor. In this case, a couple of extra hands will never hurt, since performing one routine work is not very effective. Instead, the senior/middle developer could devote time to new tasks / ideas, and for the junior developer, this is a chance to increase their experience in this area by following the instructions of the senior / middle developer.
After Internship/Mentorship a student will be able to understand if he is capable of working in the company and if not to change the profession. About 5-10% of students change their specialty, and sometimes the university already in the first year of study.
The second solution will solve the problem of employers, because they are not satisfied with the level education students receive in education institutions. Nowadays, the Z generation is so optimistic and active, so that they don’t know how to spend their energy properly. Also, many young people love games so we suggest them the platform for Time & Task Management, where every completed task will be rewarded with in-game experience, gold, etc. It’s like a real game, but you have to perform all quests by yourself, thus pumping yourself, and not the game character. Also, there will be compatibility with Wakatime if you’re a programmer, for example. I think that if a student knows how to spend his time properly and efficiently, there won’t be any problems with it during working hours.
We discussed working experience, time / task management, but what about the professional knowledge itself? The last but not least solution is that we want to create a big education platform where young people will be able to learn more about the profession that they want to study. Yeah, I talked about this before, but it’s crucially important that our country doesn’t have its own online education platform. Unfortunately, many of us don’t want and don’t like to self-study. There are many reasons for that: boring lessons, most courses are on English or Russian, no practice, etc. Specific online courses from our universities and even self-made courses from students will help with it. Who can teach students better than teachers? Only another student that understands the problems of each other. Students will be able to create their own courses and make it paid or free, accept donations and so on. This is a win-to-win situation, because when you explain something to someone, you’re actually improving your understanding.
